Pokémon Go: Legendary Pokémon in the wild - a concept with a future?

On February 26, 2022, the Johto Tour will take place in Pokémon Go. For those fans of Niantic's AR game who haven't bought a ticket for the tour, there's actually not much to do, because most of the activities are reserved for trainers who have paid for the event ticket. You can find a detailed overview in our info guide to the Johto Tour in Pokémon Go.

You can think what you like about the concept of the event, but at least the developers of Pokémon Go dare to try out a new mechanic every now and then as part of a tour. The Kanto Tour in 2021 was the first time that you had to choose which edition of the ticket you wanted - in terms of gameplay, the spawns of certain Pokémon then changed. This isn't a huge advantage or disadvantage, but simply has a lot to do with your own preferences and the game mechanics of the main series. During Johto Tour 2022, on the other hand, legendary pocket monsters may be tried out in the wild.

Legendary beasts in the wild

The legendary beasts Raikou, Suicune and Entei come from the second generation and of course they play a role in the Johto Tour. So far, it was known that the three legendary Pokémon will spawn in Tier 5 Raids as part of the event. According to the text data found by the dataminers at Pokeminers

, pushed with the latest build of Pokémon Go, the beasts will probably show up in the wild somehow; probably not in the way that they can be caught just like that, though. Here's the data:

Legendaries in the wild - but why not?

In general, though, there's little to stop the Pokémon Go folks from having legendary or perhaps even mythical Pokémon appear in the wild. After all, they don't have to stand on each other's feet when they spawn, but only appear very rarely. That would be an additional incentive for the collectors among Pokémon Go fans to get out in front.

Above all, it would mean that casual players who have little interest in, or even courage for, raids would finally no longer be rigorously excluded from Legendaries, which for a long time have appeared almost exclusively in raids. The times when players could at least get a few Legendaries via the research breakthrough

are now also far in the past. What do you think? Would legendaries in the wilderness be cool or do you think such a concept is too generous? To the home page Jump to comments (0) Susanne Braun
